We support the processing of a Ukrainian work visa type D or, if there are grounds, a temporary residence permit. We provide submission of documents for a permit and registration of the place of residence (propiska) in accordance with the requirements of Ukrainian legislation

We control the validity periods of permits, visas and certificates, coordinate interaction with migration authorities and accompany the employee throughout the entire period of his legal work in Ukraine.
A Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) is a mandatory document for foreign employees legally working and residing in Ukraine. For citizens of India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, obtaining this permit is a critical step following the approval of their Work Permit and their entry into Ukraine via a Type D work visa.
Ukrainian legislation strictly regulates migration requirements for foreigners. Therefore, it is vital for employers to organize all procedures correctly to avoid fines and operational disruptions.
A foreign worker must obtain a Temporary Residence Permit if they:
Entered Ukraine using a Type D Ukrainian Work Visa;
Possess a valid Work Permit for a foreign citizen or stateless person;
Plan to work and reside in Ukraine beyond the initial visa duration.
Without a TRP, a foreign citizen is not legally permitted to stay in Ukraine after the visa period expires.
A Work Permit is the primary document granting a Ukrainian employer the right to officially hire a citizen of India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, or other countries.
This permit serves as the legal basis for:
Applying for a Type D Work Visa;
Signing an employment contract;
Subsequent application for a Temporary Residence Permit.
The application procedure includes:
Preparation of the employer’s document package.
Submission of documents to the Employment Center.
Payment of the state fee.
Receipt of the permit within the statutory timeframe.
Upon receiving the permit, the employer is legally obligated to enter into an employment contract with the foreign worker.
The cost of a Work Permit depends on the duration for which it is issued. The state fee is established by Ukrainian law and is subject to periodic adjustments.
Additional costs to consider:
Document preparation and certified translations;
Legal and migration support services;
Subsequent permit renewals.
Renewal is possible under the following conditions:
A valid employment contract is in place;
Submission deadlines are strictly met;
No violations of migration laws have occurred.
Renewal documents must be submitted well in advance of the current permit’s expiration. Late submission can result in the loss of the right to work.
To obtain and maintain a valid Temporary Residence Permit, a foreign worker is required to have a registered place of residence (Propiska) in Ukraine.
Registration is conducted at the actual place of residence:
Dormitories/Hostels;
Rented apartments or houses;
Housing provided by the employer.
Note: If the place of residence is not registered within the legal timeframe, the TRP may be revoked.
The Individual Tax Identification Number (TIN/RNOKPP) for a foreigner is necessary for:
Payroll processing and salary payments;
Opening a bank account;
Official tax accounting.
The TIN is processed after the foreign worker enters Ukraine and is submitted to the tax authorities following the established procedure.
Key migration requirements include:
Possession of a valid work visa or residence permit;
A valid Work Permit;
A registered place of residence;
Adherence to the authorized periods of stay and employment.
Failure to comply with any of these points can lead to heavy fines for the employer or a ban on stay/deportation for the worker.
Citizens of India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan are actively recruited in Ukraine for:
Manufacturing;
Warehouse logistics;
Agriculture;
Food processing industries.
For employers, this represents a stable human resource, provided that proper migration and HR support are maintained.
This table outlines the official procedures and timeframes established by Ukrainian law for foreign workers from Asia.
| Document / Stage | Government Authority | Validity Period | Processing Time |
| Work Permit | Employment Center | 6 months to 2 years | 7–10 business days |
| Type D Work Visa | Embassy/Consulate of Ukraine | 180 days (linked to Work Permit) | 10–15 business days |
| Tax ID (RNOKPP) | State Tax Service (STS) | Indefinite | 3–5 business days |
| Residence Permit (TRP) | State Migration Service (SMS) | Duration of the Work Permit | 15 business days |
| Residency Registration | Administrative Service Center (CNAP) | Duration of the TRP | 1 business day |
A Temporary Residence Permit, a Work Permit, residency registration, a Tax ID, and strict adherence to migration laws are the cornerstones of legal employment for workers from India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
GoWork’s comprehensive migration and HR support allows your business to focus on operations while mitigating all risks associated with Ukrainian legislation.

Yes, Ukrainian legislation allows for the extension of the period of stay and validity of a permit without leaving the country. The key condition is the timely extension of the work permit (no later than 20 calendar days before its expiration) and the submission of documents to the State Migration Service no later than 15 working days before the expiration of the current permit. GoWork takes full control of these deadlines to ensure the continuity of your staff’s work.
Violation of the rules for employing foreigners entails severe administrative sanctions. Allowing a foreigner to work without a permit is punishable by a fine of 20 minimum wages for each employee. In addition, fines are imposed on both the employee and company officials for late registration (registration of residence) of a foreigner. Our support completely eliminates these risks through automated control of each stage of legalization.
Based on our many years of experience, Pakistan and Bangladesh are among the countries whose citizens undergo an in-depth check by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) when applying for a type D work visa. This process is complex and multi-stage, so the actual time it takes to obtain a visa for these countries is 2–3 months. Due to increased control, the success rate for obtaining visas for Pakistan and Bangladesh is about 60%. Our company, GoWork, accompanies each stage of the verification process, minimizing the risk of refusal by ensuring that documents are prepared perfectly.
Yes, a work permit is issued for a specific position and a specific legal entity. If the job title changes (according to the Classification of Occupations), it is necessary to obtain a new permit or amend the existing one. Employment of a foreigner in a position that does not correspond to the permit is considered illegal employment. As part of our HR support services, we conduct job compliance audits and update permits in a timely manner.
